Hello there my lovelies!

This weekend I finally made a recipe out of the #TanyaBakes recipe book by the beautiful & amazing Tanya Burr. I’ve been a loyal viewer for many years. So when I found out she was bringing out a baking book I was obviously very happy. I was lucky enough to meet her at the book signing in Birmingham where she was SO KIND.

Those of you that have already noticed, or know me personally will know that I’ve always been into cooking, I spent years studying and training. Unfortunately I didn’t end up pursuing a career in that industry because, well… I just enjoy cooking for friends and family & I didn’t realise that back then until I started working and cooking daily in a professional matter.

ANYWAY, I’m going to stop blabbing on because I know that the only reason you’re here is to see what I made, huh?

The recipe I decided to make was the CHOCOLATE ORANGE CHEESE CAKE (page 141 – puddings, if you have the book!).

I made it late Saturday evening and decorated it on Sunday morning. In total the prep took me approx 30 minutes (the book says 20) and I left it to set overnight although when I checked it before I went to bed on Saturday it was pretty much ready.

200g double choc chip cookies

100g butter (melted)

230g full-fat cream cheese

150g icing sugar

200g terry’s chocolate orange (& extra to decorate!)

150g double cream

the zest of 2 oranges

I purchased all of my ingredients from Morrison’s.

Crush the biscuits into crumbs

Together, mix the melted butter & zest of one orange until well combined & then press into the bottom of your tin

Mix the cream cheese and icing sugar together until smooth and set aside

Melt 200g of your terry’s chocolate orange in a bowl set over a pan of shimmering water, make sure the bowl isn’t touching the water

Once melted, whip all of your double cream until it forms soft peaks, add in the melted chocolate and cream cheese and mix until smooth & well combined

Pour your completed mixture onto the biscuit base and smooth it out

Pop it into the fridge to set for a minimum of two hours

Finally, decorate it with the remaining chocolate orange and orange zest. ENJOY!

drumrolllllllll please….

Like I mentioned above, I made this recipe late Saturday and finished it on Sunday morning. OF COURSE I did the taste test (cake for breakfast, WINNING). I fell in love with the recipe and the taste after the first mouthful. I took over the remaining 7 slices (originally 8) to a family lunch where it was completely demolished.

I’d personally say that one slice at a time is definitely enough, the strong taste of the orange chocolate does fill you up extremely quick. But there’s no harm in another slice a few hours later, right? 😉

It’s safe to say everybody enjoyed it, and I was a little bit gutted I hadn’t made extra to dig into the day after.

I think this is going to be a recipe to add to my favourites, and one that my friends and family will find me making and sharing with them often.

I honestly can’t wait to try some more recipes from Tanya Bakes. If they are anywhere near as tasty as this recipe ill definitely be in for a treat, literally.

ALSO, I wanted to add. I shared a photo of my delicious Cheesecake on Twitter and you all went nuts! Then Tanya herself retweeted my picture and my notifications went INSANE. Feeling so lucky right now. The tweet is currently pinned to my Twitter profile ‘debraboww’ if you wanted to go and share some love!

If you would like to purchase #TanyaBakes you can HERE – or from any large book store or supermarket.

Thank you so much for reading! Hopefully lots more foodie posts to come.

Lots of Love, Debra-Bow xxx
