When it comes to mascara I’m not the pickiest person. I usually just use mascara as a base before applying false eyelashes to finish off my makeup look… Thats why, when a new mascara hits the high streets I never pounce at the chance to be the first to try it.

However this time round, the miss baby roll mascara had me at #curlsquad. Who doesn’t wanna be part of a squad?! haha, jokes aside. I’d seen it in a few of my favourite YouTubers vlogs and it was everywhere I turned when I entered SuperDrug for my weekly dose of makeup (don’t judge me, I need it!). I finally caved in after seeing one too many reviews being shared on Twitter and thought I better put it to the test.

When I say put it to the test, I really mean it. My Asian eyelashes are straight, thin and boring. They don’t hold a “curl” as every mascara promises and this is why mascara is only good as a base for me and not something I worry about when purchasing a new one. This mascara claims to add “mega-volume” and keep your lashes curled all day long. Just what I need right? YES!

So on a Sunday morning before going out for breakfast I sat down at my makeup desk and thought, you know what; today is a brows and mascara only day. I toned my brows down by using my Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz and reached for the Miss Baby Roll mascara to finally try it out.

I was quite surprised at the brush, I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it before but I seemed to like the look of it straight away! The shape of it isn’t the most comfortable brush to use on my little Asian eyes but as soon as I got to the application it didn’t bother me as much. It created volume and the illusion of full looking lashes after one coat, and as suggested I left it to dry and applied a second coat. I didn’t want to go overboard on the coats since I was pretty much having a no makeup day so thought it would be enough for now! (Perhaps I’ll put it to the test with a more full face makeup look soon!)

I got on with my day and forgot all about my lashes, they felt weightless and so comfortable. It wasn’t something that was bothering me to have been playing on my mind which I LOVED! Who’s got time to be worried about their mascara anyway?

I checked in the mirror towards the end of the afternoon when it hit me that I was actually wearing a bit of makeup and trying out a new mascara, to be pleasantly surprised that I had no fall out and no lower lash line smudges (which is the worst!) – so I was immediately very impressed!

I didn’t bother trying out this mascara under water due to it being the normal black mascara and not the waterproof version but over time if I find that this becomes a go-to mascara then I’ll put the waterproof one to the test too.

My eyelashes did drop slightly, living up to their straightness but it was more than expected with my eyelashes, it wasn’t something that knocked me down on the mascara itself though.

All in all, I really liked this mascara and I’ll probably make it more of a habit wearing no false eyelash looks!

Whats your favourite mascara at the minute?

Lots of love, Debra-Bow xxx
