If you read my post sharing all of the goodies from Pixi you’ll already know that earlier this year I was extremely lucky to come home to a surprise package from Pixi. Imagine my face when I then opened it to discover that Caroline Hirons first ever skincare product was right there, and it was all mine… B E S T DAY EVER.
Pixi launched their #PixiPretties line which was a handful of products created in collaboration with many different beauty influencers. You can read more about it in my previous post here. They also made the very wise decision to work with Caroline on creating the Double Cleanse. I’ll be surprised if you haven’t heard of Caroline, or this product. But, basically a run down… “This British super blogger and a globally qualified advanced aesthetician is passionate about skincare and teaching the world about the benefits of double cleansing.”
ABOUT THE Pixi + Caroline Hirons DOUBLE CLEANSE
SO, two cleansers, one tub. Very interesting, my initial thoughts were this is AMAZING; it would be the perfect item to travel with as I do already double cleanse anyway and since it was made with Caroline, well it should become my holy grail. Right? (Correct). The tub (50ml per cleanser = 100ml) is larger than I had pictured in my mind whilst eyeing this up online and comes with two different formulations of cleansers. One solid, and one cream. The idea is that you double cleanse by firstly using the solid cleansing balm to remove the bulk of your makeup and finish off with the cream cleanser which essentially is where all the benefits in the skincare is.
Now, I’ve been double cleansing for quite some time now – mostly without even realising I was in a “double cleansing routine” and you probably are too so stay with me, you might like this. The aim of this cleanser is to step 1 effectively remove your makeup by breaking down what you have on your face using the solid cleansing balm and step 2 to cleanse off anything left remaining on your skin whilst hydrating, actually CLEANING your skin and basically doing all of the good stuff. The product also includes vitamin C, Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and is not fragranced.
HOW DO I USE IT?
I’ve pretty much covered how its supposed to be used above so I won’t go into too much detail, but after using around a finger nail amount of the solid cleanser (first) I then use a warm DAMP flannel to remove the product (that has pretty much turned into a oil) from my skin before going in with the cream cleanser (same amount bit less than the solid) and work it into the skin to thoroughly clean it. I then go back in with my flannel to take it away and *WALLAH*.
WHAT DO I THINK TO IT?
I went in with high hopes anyway, but I think anybody would knowing that a skincare product has been created from the skincare “guru“, Caroline herself. Those high hopes and all of the good rumours circling this product definitely lived up to expectations. Once using this cleanser not even a smudge of makeup is left on my skin… I know this as when I tone afterwards nothing comes off on the cotton pad, you can try it yourself OR do the white towel test that I always do in my makeup-remover posts.
I don’t know what it is about this cleanser but its just so much better than anything I’ve ever tried. The cleansing balm is PERFECT and even though it melts into a oil, it doesn’t make my skin feel oily and the cleansing cream is not uncomfortable like I find I have an issue with other versions I’ve tried out in the past. Both the formulations are very friendly products and didn’t irritate my skin or eyes whatsoever, not having it fragrance is a big factor of this (win win). It’s so important it doesn’t irritate when you’re applying a product so close to your eyes, I’ve used things that I’ve previously applied to my skin which has instantly made my eyes water but with this theres absolutely no worry… So those with sensitive skin, you’re covered.
Instead of my face feeling tight and unhealthy after cleansing and removing makeup, it feels hydrated, healthy and CLEAN. Oh my god, my skin feels so so so clean after using this. There’s nothing better than removing your makeup after a long day and having this feeling about a product you’ve just used.
Like other reviews on this cleanser I do have a little negative to pick with it… Although the concept of it all is fantastic, I do find that I’m somehow getting through one more than the other – down to the formulation/consistency difference it’s not an easy product to use and finish at the same time but saying that, I do like the 2-in-1 idea. It’s a bulky tub but for me I would rather this than have to carry 2 separate bottles. If Pixi ever did an extension on this double cleanse range I would love to see each product come separately so it gives people the option to try one or the other… I know that if I had to pick one it would definitely be the solid cleanser.
As I’ve spoken about on my blog before, my skin can be sensitive when it comes to spots, scarring and acne popping up here and then to remind me that it’s still a part of me (if only I could wave a magic wand) but whilst testing this out and using it on the regular I’ve not had any upset with it whatsoever. I have however noticed that since being lazy and not reaching for it at the end of the night and opting for “quicker” makeup removal products, I’ve had some pretty big break outs. So, thank you Pixi by Petra. The Double Cleanse is a FANTASTIC product and I would highly recommend this to anybody on the lookout for a luxurious cleanser, especially a double cleanser.
This doesn’t come in at a high-street price but it’s definitely worth the splurge if you’re willing to try it out. It can be purchased for £24.00 in selected M&S stores, online here or direct with Pixi.
I promised in my last Pixi post that I would share a full review on this double cleanser since it had changed my life so much and theres still more to come, so keep an eye out.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from Pixi, and if so what your favourite picks are.
Lots of Love, Debra-Bow xxx
